FaithWalk Clothing by William Renae

In today's world and in times past collaboration and partnering has been an instrumental strategy.  Partnering helps us to grow, learn, change and exchange ideas.  Even the Bible endorses partnering based on the scripture that says, "Where two or three are gathered, I am there."

I want to introduce to you a mother/son partnership, which currently launched a new clothing line.  The clothing line is called FaithWalk. The new line is created to encourage others to save themselves and to take control of their own destiny.

Renae Parker Benenson is a Mom, certified Chaplin (spiritual listener and encourager), writer and co-founder of FaithWalk.  William Marshall Parker II is a Son, entrepreneur, writer and co-founder of FaithWalk.  Together they compliment each other and have found support for their individual and collective growth and development.

They started FaithWalk because they get it.  They have figured out that their life is to get better spiritually, emotionally, financially, intellectually and physically it will be because they have prayed to God and believe that the Creator will equip them for the journey and fill them with unfathomable power to be and to do more than they can ever imagine.

Boxing's Little Icons Prep For Duel

Saturday will see a boxing matchup sure to draw countless diehard fans: Filipino Manny Pacquiao, considered the sport’s “pound-for-pound best,” versus Britiain's Ricky Hatton, the current International Boxing Organization junior welterweight champ. “When Manny fights, everything stops in the Philippines,” a Manila journalist tells the Wall Street Journal. And a million Brits got up at 4am to see a Hatton match in Las Vegas, said a promoter.

“I can't wait for the fight. It doesn't get any better than fighting the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world,” said Hatton. He knows how to pressure an opponent, a key strategy to beating lefties like Pacquaio. Pacquiao predicts “great action.” But neither is great on defense, and the fight will likely hinge on self-control.

Are You Scared?

Boolumaster

There's no need to fear anything. Fear is a feeling that can paralyze you. Affirm out loud, I Aint Never Scared! The good book tells us there's power in the spoken word. Use that power to run that scared business out of here.

You want to start your own business? Do IT! Don't be Scared. This applies to everything. Don't forget, Run it by GOD in prayer so that he can direct your path. You can try but you can't do it alone. The moguls that you see on television (Diddy, Jayz, Beyonce, Russell) all go within to GOD for guidance. Trust me, there's No way to acquire wealth by yourself.

The Children's Cartoon mogul Walt Disney said it best "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them".

Key to Winning: Scrubs Having a Breakout Season

It takes more to build a winning baseball team these days than pure statistical analysis, writes Darren Everson in the Wall Street Journal. You need someone with what Everson terms “Bellhorn Syndrome.” Mark Bellhorn, owner of a .264 slugging average the previous year, became an inexplicable hero for Boston during its 2004 World Series campaign. In a sport where seemingly everything is quantifiably predictable, a few such inexplicable surprises strike each year.

Executives say they typically look for either experienced position players with a strong work ethic—think Gabe Kapler, who came out of retirement to have a career year in 2008—or healthy relief pitchers who may have hit a string of bad luck, like Jeremy Affeldt, an unlikely key to Colorado’s World Series bullpen. Still, not every such gamble works out, cautions Colorado’s general manager. “It is an inexact science.”

Don't Let These Times Sway You

BOOLUMASTER

There is a lot going on in these times. 80% of the news reported is bad news. The media is used to controlling the masses. You can't believe everything that you hear and see.

While most are going crazy and losing sleep over the cost of inflation others are still becoming millionaires and billionaires. You can not let these times sway you from accomplishing your heart's desires.

GOD has given us complete dominion over our lives which means we are in control, and in order to be in control, our thinking can't be swayed by the times.

These times are tough if you continue to think they are. Don't let NOTHING SWAY YOU.

Homeless Teen Heads to Ravens

A homeless teen turned All-American football player is headed to the NFL. The Baltimore Ravens yesterday traded up to choose Mississippi offensive tackle Michael Oher as the 23rd pick of this year's draft, reports the Baltimore Sun. "It's been a long journey," said Oher, close to tears. "I'm not going to let them down. I'm going to give them everything I got."

Oher was born in one of the poorest parts of Memphis to a crack-addicted mother, and his absent father was murdered while he was in high school. His story, chronicled in Michael Lewis' bestseller The Blind Side, made him a star even before his arrival at Ole Miss. Some NFL fans expected Oher to be picked earlier in the draft, but the player was unfazed: "I knew I was going to be drafted. Don't feel sorry for me."

Bill Gates Senior: Bill Junior Was a Brat

Bill Gates stopped being a kid right about age 11, his father tells Wall Street Journal. And then he turned into a royal pain, at least for a while. In the most famous bit of family lore, Bill Gates Sr. says he had to chuck a glass of cold water over the head of his 12-year-old son during an outbreak of "utter, total sarcastic, smart-ass kid rudeness" at the dinner table. Soon after, the family enrolled him in a private school where he had more freedom—and discovered computers.

Bill Sr.—who helped guide his son through tough decisions like taking Microsoft public—is now co-chairman of the $30 billion Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The 83-year-old says he enjoys working with his son but never forgets that Bill Jr. needs his space. "He has very fixed ideas of some things," Gates Sr. says. "The dynamic of the family is that you don't cross him on those things, because it's a waste of time."

Lions to Make Stafford No. 1 Draft Pick

The Detroit Lions have signed a deal to make Matthew Stafford the NFL's top draft pick, sources tell ESPN. The Georgia quarterback, a key part of the Lions' plans to rebuild after the worst season in NFL history, has been given a 6-year deal worth a maximum of $78 million, with $41.3 million guaranteed.

The deal is the richest in the history of the draft, topping the $72 million deal the Atlanta Falcons gave Matt Ryan. The Lions say they've done their homework and they're sure Stafford won't be a bust. "We've seen every pass he's thrown in the last 2 years, and that's where you learn about his decision-making ability," said first-year coach Jim Schwartz.

As Memory Slips Away, Music Lingers

The Alzheimer’s patient had forgotten nearly everything, including his own name, but the sound of Frank Sinatra moved him to grab his wife and dance. The phenomenon demonstrates how deep-seated music is in the human brain, Sara Davidson writes for the New York Times’ New Old Age blog. “If someone sang to you as a baby, before you even knew words, you’ll respond to music after words are gone.”

Music therapists ply their trade in all sorts of facilities; it’s an important tool because the brain processes music broadly rather than in a single area. “You can’t rub out music unless the brain is completely gone,” says a professor. Music therapy can even slow the progress of Alzheimer’s. “It works faster to relax people than any drug,” says a student who happens to be Davidson’s daughter. “It’s cost-effective and has no side effects.”

'Recession Angels' Help the Struggling

The recession has led to some antipathy toward moneyed Americans, but the haves are not casting a blind eye to the have-nots' troubles, ABC News reports. Colleges across the country are seeing millions in anonymous donations designed to save endowments, and at least one hospital has spared hundreds of jobs through benefactors' gifts. Call them “recession angels.”

At the community level, nonprofits are financing birthday parties for kids from hard-hit families. “You can really see how God works for people,” said a mother of a child feted with the program’s help. Even small businesses are feeling generous. One small-town pharmacy owner gathered his employees, who feared layoffs, and gave them bonuses instead. “When you have it in your hand, it makes you think of the smaller stores,” one said.

Why Jeans Are Evil

Across America, men, women, and children are wearing the same pants: jeans. Not only a sartorial crime, the trend is an “obnoxious misuse of freedom,” rails George Will of the Washington Post. Levi Strauss set out to make tough pants for 49ers who spent all day in the mud, and “it is silly for Americans whose closest approximation of physical labor consists of loading their bags into golf carts to go around dressed for driving steers.”

Today’s denim is a “carefully calculated costume,” designed to look casual, indifferent, exactly as slovenly as the next guy. Actually dressing well “would be to commit the sin of lookism—of believing that appearance matters,” Will explains. “That heresy leads to denying the universal appropriateness of everything, and then to the elitist assertion that there is good and bad taste.”

11M YouTube Hits? 'Awesome': UK Sensation

Since leaving Simon Cowell speechless, sweet-voiced Susan Boyle has earned the ultimate Internet honor: Her Britain’s Got Talent audition has gone viral with 11 million hits. “It’s awesome,” Boyle told CBS’ Early Show today. The youngest of nine children, Boyle has been living alone since her mother died. “I wanted to make this a tribute to my mother,” she said.

Until now, Boyle confined her singing to karaoke pubs, church, and the occasion party in her small Scottish town. “She never flaunted her voice,” her priest tells the Washington Post. After the public breakthrough, he and her neighbors “let out a wee bit of a cheer for her.” More may await: CNN reports that Cowell is rushing to find her a record deal.

With Madden Exit, Less BOOM! in NFL

John Madden’s outsize presence in the world of football will be hard to fill, Alex Marvez writes for Fox Sports. Personality aside, the Hall of Fame coach—who announced his retirement today—was meticulous about preparing for his TV commentary. “Madden made football fun for the casual fan with every-guy humor,” Marvez writes, but he also “appeased the hardcore football junkie by delving into Xs and Os like no one ever had.”

“He made us all lot wiser about line play, which is something a lot of color analysts or announcers weren’t nearly as capable of doing,” a Hall of Fame exec said. And don’t forget why Madden made the Hall: The best winning percentage ever among NFL coaches. “No announcer since Howard Cosell helped draw such attention to the game,” Marvez writes. For that, he will be missed.

OLA ALI, CEO BIG FIGGA MARKETING

"A Big Figga is someone who stands out in the crowd"

In 1997, 21-year-old Chicago native and University of Illinois student Ola Allibalogun decided to make a difference. Allibalogun, an athlete himself, realized how important it was for athletes and entertainers to create and maintain a positive public persona. His aphorism was that "A Big Figga is someone who stands out in the crowd". Through his indomitable creativity and motivation to become a difference maker, Big Figga Entertainment’s Marketing and Management division was born.

As we venture further into the millennium, the role of stardom becomes increasing more relevant in the everyday person’s life. Allibalogun’s goal for the marketing and management divisions were to help promote integrity, professionalism and self-esteem into the minds of the masses that reach for stardom and to those who believe they are destined to be on top.

Ali initially had only two people who were a part of the Big Figga family, his long-time friends and cohorts, Michael Dean and Benjamin Ross. Dean, a business-minded, finance student and teammate of Allibalogun’s, always had an intrinsically great sense of personal style. Ross, worldly renowned for his social skills as well as his determination & desire, shared in Allibalogun’s vision of being on top. From there the three set off to build, create, inspire, and share the success of an entertainment empire.
Since 1998, Big Figga Entertainment Inc. has exposed this lifestyle on the college campuses of University of Illinois, Illinois State University, and Southern Illinois University. They were also the first entertainment company to successfully combine two major university campuses for one huge event dubbed "The ISU-U of I Collabo Party." Over 5,000 people were in attendance. As Big Figga continued to gain notoriety they began hosting events in Chicago, Illinois, as well as Atlanta, Georgia.

Hong Kong Brothers Brave Tide With Life-Size Ark

A trio of billionaire brothers in Hong Kong is offering shelter from the financial storm in the form of a life-size Noah’s ark replica, built using the Bible as a manual, the Wall Street Journal reports. The ark is one of many replicas worldwide, but the only one that conforms to the Bible’s 450-foot long, 75-foot wide, 45-foot high standards.

Today’s financial woes didn’t inspire it, however: The ark, with 67 pairs of fiberglass animals and a hotel, has been 17 years in the making; the project was driven by the evangelical middle brother. Other arks include a Dutch vessel that, unlike the Kwoks’, really floats; and a Greenpeace ark built as a climate warning on the Turkish mountain where Noah’s is thought to have come to rest.

Fla. Passenger Lands Plane After Pilot Dies

A passenger landed a twin-engine plane in Florida yesterday after the pilot died during flight. FAA officials say he died after takeoff from a Naples airport while the plane, which had six people on board, was on autopilot and climbing toward 10,000 feet. The passenger who took over is licensed for single-engine planes but isn't certified to fly the larger King Air craft.

An air traffic controller helped the passenger down by calling a friend in Connecticut who knows the King Air plane and relaying instructions. The plane landed safely at Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers; it had been headed to Jackson, Miss.

As Economy Dives, Street Papers Thrive

Street papers—newspapers created and sold by the homeless—are enjoying a small boom, even as mainstream papers feel the brunt of the economic crisis. It’s not just because of growing interest in these local papers’ quirky coverage, the New York Times reports. As the ranks of the down-and-out swell, more and more people are showing up to sell the papers, which can return a 75-cent profit per copy.

Managers of these papers say they’re now getting vendors who have high school, even college diplomas, and the combination of more salesmen and “higher quality” vendors have boosted sales: Portland's Street Roots jumped from selling 11,000 to 16,000 papers within a few months. But the recession has hit some papers in other ways; Washington, DC's Street Sense has seen the donations that fund its operation drop 25% in the last year.

Tiger's Niece Has Golf World Looking Out

On the golf course, Cheyenne Woods has two big advantages, both related to her family: Her grandfather started teaching her to play before she entered kindergarten, and she bears an uncanny resemblance to her uncle Tiger. Talk about mind games. But her goal is "just make a name for myself," the 18-year-old Wake Forest freshman tells NPR.

Woods, who grew up in Arizona, is already ranked 100th among 2000 women college golfers, and "she picks things up very quickly," says her coach. That's another advantage for Woods, who plans to go professional after she graduates, and another threat to the current field of women golfers. For now, she says, "I try to set myself aside from the Tiger Woods name."

Ali: Nothing Has Defeated Me

When NPR asked Muhammad Ali to weigh in for its “This I Believe” series, the boxing legend’s response was simple. “I have always believed in myself,” he said, in an essay read on the air by his wife, Lonnie. “And I still do.” Ali credits his supreme self-confidence with taking him to the top. “My will was stronger than their skills,” he says of his boxing opponents. Now, that same belief helps him cope with his greatest nemesis of all—Parkinson’s disease.

“If there was anything that would strike at the core of my confidence in myself, it would be this insidious disease,” he writes. “But my confidence and will to live life as I choose won’t be compromised. … Nothing in life has defeated me. I am still the ‘Greatest.’”

Outlaw Tagger Goes Corporate

With clients like Universal Studios, and Nike, Mister Cartoon still has street cred. In fact, that’s what makes the 39-year-old graffiti artist, tattoo artist, fashion designer, and car customizer such a sought-after corporate image maker, the Los Angeles Times reports. Cartoon’s designs—which mix Chicano gang culture and Japanimation—can impart nearly anything with counterculture cool.

Cartoon lost interest in illegal tagging after he was arrested at 17. Since then, he’s bounced around between gigs, eventually rising to superstar status with tattoos on the likes of Eminem and 50 Cent. The corporate work on films like Fast & Furious has actually grown his cult following. “The mainstream is coming around to his aesthetic, not the other way around,” said a producer making a biopic about him. “He’s still hard-core. He’s a gatekeeper to that world.”

Hero Pilot Documentary Headed for Cable in Late '09

Cable channel TLC has obtained exclusive rights to make a documentary on the story of Chesley Sullenberger, the pilot who successfully saved US Airways Flight 1549 with a daring water landing in January. The documentary will feature extensive interviews with Sullenberger discussing both his specific actions to save the plane and the approach to piloting that prepared him for the maneuver, Variety reports.

“I think this is a story that’s going to stay around a while,” said producer Daniel Birman. “Let’s not forget we’re talking about a great story, an optimistic story, at a time when there’s not a lot of good news going around.” The film will air in late 2009.

Sykes Signs On to Challenge SNL

The last time Wanda Sykes had a show on Fox, Wanda at Large lasted just 19 episodes. But "if Rihanna can go back to Chris Brown, I can go back to Fox," Sykes tells the Los Angeles Times. Beginning this fall, she'll have a Saturday late-night talk show on the network, which promises to feature Sykes' biting views and panel discussions on controversial issues,.

YouTube, SNL Receive Peabody Awards

YouTube, Lost, and CNN were all honored with a 2008 Peabody Award for contributions to broadcasting, the Hollywood Reporter writes. For news, NPR’s coverage of the earthquake in Chengu, China, and CNN’s 2008 election coverage were recognized, along with Saturday Night Live for the razor-sharp political satire it delivered last year. ABC’s Lost, AMC’s Breaking Bad, and HBO’s Entourage received drama awards.

But it is the new-media winners which are arguably the most important: Peabody honored the New York Times' web site and the Onion’s online parody news network. It also recognized YouTube for its paradigm-shifting impact on media in general.
